Excalibur Men's Lacrosse Opens Season with Strong Win Over Queen's Gaels at Home
The Trent Excalibur men's lacrosse team kicked off their 2024 season with a strong 11-6 victory over the Queen's Gaels on Wednesday night at a packed Justin Chiu Stadium. Queen's opened the scoring early, but local Peterborough talent Mason Tardiff answered swiftly, netting his first goal as an Excalibur. Shortly after, Dylan James (Little Britain) followed with another goal. Second-year Dallyn Rai (Edmonton, AB) extended Trent's lead, assisted by Bronsen Muller (Whitby). The game was tied 5-5 at halftime, with goals in the second quarter by Jack Macalpine (Oakville) and Adam Hawrelak (Edmonton, AB).
In the third quarter, Queen's gained a brief one-goal lead before Hawrelak evened the score. With seconds left in the third, Holden Lowes (Peterborough) fired in the game-winner, assisted by James. Trent pulled away in the fourth, with Jordan Dool (Aurora) contributing two goals, Lowes adding another, and Rai completing his hat trick to secure the win.
Men's lacrosse will play at home on Saturday, September 7, at 8 p.m. against Carleton. Tickets are available at the gate for $10, with free admission for Trent students and children under 12 accompanied by an adult.
