On Friday night, the Trent Men's Excalibur Volleyball team welcomed the Brock Badgers for the first of a two-game home series against the Badgers.  

In the first set, both the Excalibur and the Badgers traded points back and forth, with both teams utilizing the blocks. Kevin Bowes (4th year) and Charlie Winser (4th year) both had some key kills for the Excalibur, which helped them pull away from the deadlock. Setter Aly Saydam (4th year) set up more kills for Winser and Nic Badalato (5th year), to increase the Excalibur lead. Bowes added an ace to his impressive first set performance, and with the help of some Brock service errors, Trent would take the first set 25-20. 

The second set saw Trent fall behind early, as Brock pushed to take a commanding lead. Trent fought back, with kills from Jack Curtis (3rd year), Winser, and Badalato helping Trent eliminate the deficit. Curtis and Evan Burke (4th year) had aces, which started a Trent 10-6 run, taking the lead. More kills from Winser, Curtis, and Burke helped Trent maintain the lead, and a Badalato ace sealed the second set for the Excalibur, winning it again by a score of 25-20. 

In the third set, the Badgers fought with vengeance, taking an early lead. Kills by Burke, Winser, and an ace by Saydam helped Trent keep the set close. The Badgers would increase their lead, and the Excalibur called a timeout, down 22-17. Trent would turn this deficit around, thanks to some key team blocks, and kills from Bowes, Burke, Winser, and Badalato tied the game up at 24-24. Both teams fought hard for every point, trying to secure the set win. Badaloto and Winser got key kills to keep Trent in the match. An attack error by Brock gave Trent a chance to secure the win, which thanks to a monstrous kill by Winser, the Trent Excalibur won the set 28-26, sweeping Brock in three sets to win the match.  

Trent Excalibur highlights in the match include Charlie Winser leading both teams with 15 kills in the contest. Badalato, Bowes, Burke, and Curtis each had 6 kills apiece. Burke led the team with 4 solo blocks, and Badalato led the team with 8 digs.  

The Trent Men's Excalibur Volleyball team will look to win the season series against the Brock Badgers on Saturday November 15th, at 4:00 pm at the Trent Athletic Centre.
